The golden hour for Melbourne weddings
You know those beautiful sun drenched photos, the glowing magical light filled images you see so many of. Golden hour, almost every time. The golden hour, otherwise know as ‘that magic hour’ happens about 1 hour after sunrise and 1 hour before sunset.
Golden hour photographs are something you could take careful consideration of as you are plotting out your wedding day. A good way to keep track of the suns movements is to use a sun tracker app or website so you can see where the sun may be falling throughout the day. It is also a good idea to map out where the sun may fall during your ceremony, will you both be standing in direct sunlight, if so, how could you possibly change that so you are both standing in the shade, which makes for much nicer and flattering photos. Taking note of where the sun falls throughout your whole day is such a fun way to get excited about your bridal photos, I will stay in close contact with you throughout your wedding planning.
But don’t fret if golden hour happens several hours after you’d like to take your bridal photos. As I am photographing a wedding I am constantly watching the light…..I’m like a light stalker! And when I see that it is just right, I will come and tap you softly on the shoulder and let you know that we have a 20min window to nip outside and get some stunning golden hour portraits.
If those golden light drenched photos are something you have always dreamed of, then I do recommend you set aside a special 20mins right smack bang in the middle of golden hour, so we can take these photos without disrupting other activities that may be happening during this time.
